The Question.

There has been one question that all RSL fans having been asking this off season.

"Why aren't we adding anybody to the roster that can score?"

We have been fearing that keeping a team exactly the same that had a good playoff run, but still only managed a 10-10-10 record would bite us in the butt. We bent over...Seattle chomped down.

There has been so much talk about "the core" this offseason as an excuse for not bringing in the goal scoring ability that we crave. I even started to buy "the core" philosophy that by some miracle bringing in a team that didn't score very much, but played together many times, would somehow produce results.

Our playoff run last season may have been a curse in its own way. It brought about a content feeling with what we possessed, both as fans and in the club offices. But we forgot one thing, we don't score and therefore we are really only a slightly above average team.

Now, don't get me wrong, it was only one game. There is still a long way to go, but where are the points going to come from?

This is Seattle's first year in MLS. Their subs were Nate Sturgis and Freddie Ljundberg. We should be well established by now, slipping out of the expansion title. Our subs? Two unproven rookies out of college - Rapheal Cox and Jean Alexandre.

Our FO spent the last 5-6 months not improving our roster...what are we going to do if we can see that we desperately need help after the next 5-6 weeks?
