New Blood

One thing that is consistent with Real Salt Lake signings is the lack of buzz surrounding the players that come and play of us. That does not mean we don't have quality players on the pitch, but our pickups tend to either be 'diamonds hiding in coal' or youth projects. Outside of our inaugural year with Eddie Pope and Clint Mathis I would argue that Kyle Beckerman has been the biggest 'name' we have brought in. Our other star players have come from abroad and their signings left die-hard fans scrambling for information from local fans of clubs such as Deportivo Cali (Jamison Olave).

Pablo Campos fits the bill. Garth and Jason have been after this Brasileiro for sometime now, but missed out on him to begin the year and he ended up having an 'okay' 14 games with San Jose.

Pablo had an amazing time in the lower leagues where is scored an insane amount of goals with the Fresno Fuego, a PDL team. It remains to be seen if the 6'3" forward can take that success up a couple of levels to Major League Soccer.

One thing that we may have going for us is that he came from San Jose, the same team that cut midfielder Ned Grabavoy who has seen decent success for RSL and more notably the team that traded away Kei Kamara to Houston for a draft pick...Kamara has ripped things up in Houston. Hopefully Campos can continue the tradition of making Earthquake fans more and more disappointed in head coach Frank Yallop.
